Dream Chasers Racing: From Amateur Success to AMA Pro Supercross
01/02/2025 05:20 AM
Dream Chasers Racing (DCR), a Supercross team registered in Montana and operating out of Lake Elsinore, California, is making steps forward in the motocross world. Spearheaded by team owner Richard Todd and manager Tarvo Jürima, the team is transitioning from a successful amateur program to a competitive Pro team in the AMA Supercross circuit. With a unique blend of family values and professional ambition, DCR is carving its niche in one of the most competitive motorsports in the world.
How Dream Chasers Racing’s Journey to Pro Ranks Began
The road to moving Dream Chasers Racing to the Pro ranks began with a discussion between team owner Richard Todd and the now team manager, Tarvo Jürima. Tarvo is a guy from Estonia who also raced motocross in the last century, but has lived in the USA for over 20 years and has helped many Estonian motocross riders there over the years. For example, Juss Laansoo, who was elected AMA Rookie of the Year in 2005, as well as other Estonian pros like Gert Krestinov, Harri Kullas, Jörgen-Matthias Talviku, Erki Kahro and others.
Todd had already built a strong foundation for DCR as an amateur team, achieving success in high-profile events like Loretta Lynns and Mini O's. Todd saw potential to move forward.
"Richard invited me to Montana to talk about taking the team to the Pro level by 2025," Jürima explains. With over 20 motorcycles under the DCR tent at Washougal this year, the interest in expanding became undeniable.
Jürima, with his 20+ years of experience and connections in the industry, was offered the role of team manager. "It was a huge opportunity," he recalls, "but I took a week to reflect and consult before accepting the challenge. I've always enjoyed taking on new challenges, especially alongside great people."
First Steps as a Team Manager
The transition to Pro-level Supercross began with focused outreach to sponsors. "In the first week alone, Richard and I sent around 50 emails each and made just as many phone calls," Jürima says. The team quickly identified their core sponsors and worked on strengthening existing relationships while seeking new ones.
Housing logistics presented another early challenge. Securing a four-bedroom house in Lake Elsinore by January helped solve the issue, providing a base for the team's riders and staff.
"Among our riders and staff, we will have Estonian pro motocross and supercross rider Harri Kullas staying at our base in Lake Elsinore for his first month in America," Jürima added.
Estonian Harri Kullas, who will be riding for MRPSBR Husqvarna Team, is making a full-time transition to racing in America in 2025 and plans to start preparing for his AMA 250 East Supercross debut season on the West Coast. He plans to move his home base and training program to Club MX Training Facility once the 250 East Supercross Championship gets going.
"I was super happy to help an Estonian rider through our team structure. It was important for him to find a place to stay while on the West Coast," Jürima reflected.
What Sets Dream Chasers Racing Apart From the Rest of Supercross Teams
"DCR is built on family and friendships," says Jürima. Richard and his wife handle day-to-day operations, while James, the team's truck driver, ensures seamless logistics. Tarvo, as the manager, oversees sponsorships, logistics, and crucial decision-making. The warm and supportive atmosphere within the team creates a unique environment in the competitive Supercross world.
At the moment DCR's roster includes Hayden Robinson and a group of ambitious amateur riders. "We focus on riders with strong family support and proven dedication," Jürima notes.
A Four-Year Vision for Success
Dream Chasers Racing has a clear four-year plan to support young riders with a consistent racing program within the team. Their ambition is to have their riders consistently reach the 250 Supercross finals while developing the skills and confidence needed for long-term success.
The team is also open to negotiating with ambitious young riders from any country, aiming to provide opportunities for the next generation of talent to rise through the ranks. "Our goal is to provide young riders the tools they need to compete at the highest level while building a team that can consistently deliver results," Jürima explains.
Gratitude to Sponsors
As part of this exciting journey, Jürima expressed his gratitude to all the sponsors who have made DCR's progress possible. "We couldn't have reached this point without the incredible support from our sponsors. Their belief in our vision motivates us to keep pushing forward and building something truly special," he said.
