On Sunday, February 23, the Dutch motocross season will kick off at the Herselse Bossen circuit in Lierop. Registration for the third edition of the Dutch MX Season Opener has only been open for a few weeks, but already a great mix of talent and world-class riders is eager to start the season strong in Lierop.

In the 500cc class, Brent van Doninck from the JM Racing Honda team makes his return. He won the first edition of the Dutch MX Season Opener in Lierop and is once again one of the favorites for the podium this year. However, he can expect fierce competition from the likes of Roan van de Moosdijk, Adam Sterry, Petar Petrov, Jorgen Matthias Talviku, Micha Boy de Waal, Boris Blanken, Sven van der Mierden, Marcel Conijn, and others.

Van Doninck will be joined by his teammate David Braceras from Spain, who will compete in the 250cc class. Oriol Oliver from the new BTS Racing team will also be present in Lierop, along with his teammate Jens Walvoort, who scored points in every race in last year's MX2 World Championship and has shown significant progress. Another Dutch MX2 talent kicking off his season in Lierop is Kay Karssemakers from the Haaz Racing Kawasaki team.

The 250cc class promises intense battles for podium positions, as a large group of riders are evenly matched. Cas Valk, who finished third in the EMX250 Championship last year, is making the step to the MX2 World Championship this season. Representing Van Venrooy KTM Racing, he will compete in his first race on Dutch soil in Lierop. Gyan Doensen, who transitioned from the 125cc class after a successful period, will also make his Dutch debut in Lierop. Bradley Mesters, who impressed last year, is currently undergoing intensive preparation under the guidance of former Grand Prix winner in Lierop, Marc de Reuver. He will join Scott Smulders, Nicolas Vennekens, Quentin Prugnieres from WZ Racing, and Nico Greutmann, last year's ADAC Youngster Cup champion, on the starting line.

The 125cc class, as always, promises fireworks. Young talents like Dean Gregoire, Dani Heitink, Jarne Bervoets and Tyla van de Poel will face fierce competition from riders such as Cole McCullough and Ryan Oppliger. In the same class, the women will also compete. Dutch top riders Lynn Valk and Shana van der Vlist have confirmed their participation and will do their best to challenge the 125cc riders.

Even more top riders are expected in Lierop, including world champions and former Grand Prix winners. These names will be announced in an upcoming update.
