Maximilian Werner of the JM Racing Honda team finished sixth in the penultimate round of the EMX250 Championship in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. Werner crossed the finish line in ninth place in the first moto but did even better in the second moto with a sixth place.

Werner immediately had a good feeling on the track. This ensured that he managed to set a good sixth time in time training, which was his best result in time training so far.  Motivated, he started preparing for the first moto. He didn’t get a good start but managed to quickly work his way up to sixth place in the early stages. He then attacked the rider in front of him but couldn’t get by him. He took over the speed of the rider in front of him and this resulted in him starting to make mistakes. Werner lost several positions and eventually finished ninth.

Before the second moto, Werner suffered a major setback. He crashed heavily in the sighting lap and it was unclear whether he would be able to ride. Werner decided to ride anyway and surprisingly managed to take the lead. He was riding a good race and managed to cross the finish line in sixth place.

With a 9-6 in the motos, Werner finished in sixth place in the day’s classification. In the standings of the EMX250 Championship he has climbed to seventh place.

Brent van Doninck had a difficult weekend in the MXGP class. The whole weekend he couldn’t get the right feeling and therefore didn’t get any further than twentieth and fifteenth place.
