WHAT STANDS OUT? Here’s a list of things that stand out with the XPR second injector kit.
(1) Throttle response. It’s no secret that Austrian bikes lack excitement off the crack of the throttle. Their smooth and linear engine quality can be deceiving, making the bike feel less aggressive off the bottom. They can also be difficult for novice-level riders to manage because the power isn’t responsive enough to pull riders out of a mistake. This is where the XPR second injector kit shines. It makes the engine pick up quicker and gets it into the sweet spot of the powerband without having to rely on revs or the clutch.
(2) Performance. Test riders felt that the XPR second injector kit made our stocker feel like a modified engine. Not only did it improve throttle response, it helped the midrange and over-rev power as well. With a Vortex ECU tuned for the second injector kit, test riders felt an improved connection to the rear wheel. It was easier to keep the rear tire tracking in the right direction. It felt like your throttle hand had a direct connection to the rear wheel.
(3) Durability. Being that the XPR second injector kit does not require any internal engine modifications, you should expect to maintain the excellent durability that the Austrian bikes are known for. You won’t have to do any more engine maintenance than what is recommended by the factory.
(4) Installation. We recommend that you get this kit installed by a professional mechanic. Installing and routing the additional fuel line is not easy. If not done correctly, it won’t work.
(5) Price. When you order the kit, it will come with the second injector already installed into the air boot with the required fuel lines included. You will need a Vortex ECU programmed for the second injector kit to work. It will not work with your stock ECU or an ECU that’s not programmed to run a second injector. It’ll cost $2004.00 to buy the second injector kit, plus a new Vortex ECU tuned by XPR. Or, if you already have an XPR-tuned Vortex ECU, XPR Motorsports will update your Vortex to run with the second injector for free. If you want to use a Vortex that hasn’t already been mapped by XPR, it will cost $400 to remap that ECU to use with the kit.
WHAT’S THE SQUAWK? Since the XPR second injector kit requires a tuned Vortex ECU, this modification will cost around $2000 in total. That is a hefty price tag, but the overall power gains make it worth it in the long run.
MXA RATING: Added performance without sacrificing durability is a racer’s dream. This is what you get with the XPR Motorsports second injector kit; it doesn’t get much better!
