The last time Hawaiian Brian Medeiros was at “Saturday at the Glen,” He raced MXA’S 2025 Honda CRF450 to the 450 Pro victory. This week, he asked MXA if he could race the 2025 Kawasaki KX450, which he hadn’t ridden yet, and he won the 450 Pro class again. His win streak will continue as long as MXA has more 2025 450s that he hasn’t raced yet.

MXA came loaded for bear at “Saturday at the Glen. They had 12 test riders racing in the Pro, Expert& Intermediate class with even more fire power in the Older Vet classes and two mini racers. Of the 12 MXA test riders Josh Mosiman won the 450 Pro class, Ezra Lewis won the 125 Pro class, Justin Lee took the Open Expert class, Bode Bushnell won the 85 class and Shawn Bushnell won the Over-40 Experts. MXA provides test bikes to these test riders to get more time and opinions of how the 2025 models perform.  MXA races its test bike because they are “race bikes”.

Obviously, Josh Mosiman was the big winner on Saturday as he raced MXA’s 2025 Honda CRF450 to a two-moto sweep of the 450 Pro class—equally impressive were the rides of MXA staffer Justin Lee who went 1-1 in  and Shawn Bushnell, who went 3-3 in Open Expert class and then the two riders when straight to the starting line to race back-to-back in the Pro race. Shawn Bushnell also won the Over-40 Expert class. Back-to-back races on a 95-degree day at Glen Helen is a grueling test of determination. A couple MXA test riders were missing: Brian Medeiros had gone to Washougal to race the Top Gun event; and Josh Fout decided to spend  Labor Day weekend floating on his sailboat in Oceanside Harbor; while Dennis Stapleton raced in a couple motos to start getting in shape for the World Vet in November.

There were lots of winners on Saturday (who weren’t MXA guys); Of the 240 racers the most notable winners were:  Luther French took the Over-60 Expert class with a 1-1; Val Tamietti won the Over-65 Expert class on his YZ250, but needed a 2-1 to edge out Will Harper’s 1-2; Bill Sauro has been the dominant rider in the Over-50 Experts as of late and his 1-1 bested the 4-2 of Arizona’s Ed Foedish and 3-3 of off-road legend Paul Krause ;  Dane Morales was amazing on his way to the 450 Intermediate victory — largely because he did it by battling through the meat of the 450 Pro class to get the 1-1 win;  In the Over-40 Intermediates Ricky Richards put his trusty Suzuzki RM-Z450 out to pasture to take his brand-new Husqvarna FC450 to a 1-1 day;  Mavis Alessi, daughter of Moto Concepts Honda team manager Tony Alessi,  won the PW50 class with a 1-1. The biggest class of the day was the 250 Beginners, it was won by Gavin Lee, who went 1-1 out of the 21 riders on the starting line.

At sign-up they asked the Pee-Wee, 65cc and play bike parents if they wanted their kids to go up the big hill or have them race on the track without the hill. They all said, their kid could climb the hill. The kids gave it their best shot, some made and some didn’t. But the kids were gung-ho. That is Josh Fout (orange helmet) picking up his brother Logan’s bike only three feet from the top..

To help the little bikes get up the hill, Glen Helen sent the Cat out to clean up the Mt. Whitney uphill.

MXA had five riders in the Pro race—starting with Brian Medeiros (27) on the 2025 KX450.

MXA’s Dennis Stapleton (9) raced the 2025 Honda CRF450 that Brian Medieros won on a couple weeks ago, in the Over-30 Pro class.

MXA’s Shawn Bushnell, on the plain wrap YZ250F, leads 250 Pro Cody Brownfield (124). Shawn was assigned test the AHM suspension on MXA’s Yamaha YZ250F and he raced it sans numbers.

Josh Fout (946) planned to stay overnight at Glen Helen and race the SRA Cross-country Grand Prix on Sunday, so he elected to race MXA’s Kawasaki KX450X off-road model on both days.

Carter Dubach (15) is not an MXA test rider, but MXA lent his father Doug Dubach bikes so he could raced the AMA 125 Nationals back in 1984-1985.

MXA wasn’t alone in testing 2025 bikes at “Saturday at the Glen.” Dirt Bike’s Ron Lawson was testing a 2025 Husqvarna in the Over-65 Expert class.

And, Dirt Bike’s Mark Tilley raced the Over-40 Expert class on his full-race Kawasaki KX450.

Bill Sauro (311) swept both motos of the Over-50 Expert class in front of a top five of John Griffin (2-2), Chris Heinrich (3-4), Andrew Hopson (6-3) and Pasha Afshar (4-5).

Luther French (21) took the win in the Over-60 Experts.Bob Rutten (83) finally broke Val Tamietti’s win streak in the Over-65 Experts with a 2-1 over Val’s 1-2.

Val Tamietti can be forgiven for getting beat by Bob Rutten in the second moto of the Over-65 Experts, since that was Val’s fourth moto of the day. He raced both the Over-60 Experts and the Over-65 Experts.

Will Harper (7) and Dave Eropkin (811) battled in the Over-65 Experts. Eropkin finished third with a 4-3, while Harper (7) took his Stark Varg to sixth overall with a 5-6.

Mike Monaghan (34) edged out Will Harper’s Varg for fifth in the Over-65 Experts on his 2009 Yamaha YZ125.

Marc Crosby (25) went 5-4 in the Over-65 Intermediates for fourth overall behind behind Kirk Waymire (1-1), Pete Vetrano (2-2) and Jim Hanson (3-3).

Randy Lewis (161) leads the Over-65 Novices through the first turn, flanking him are Mic Rodgers (115) who won the over-70 class and John McCarrell (412), who was 8th in the Over-60 Novices.

If Richard Hurtado (100) gets any more sponsors he is going to have unbuckle his pants for them to be seen on his jersey.

John Griffin (56) went 2-2  in the Over-50 Experts.

Alison Bushnell (35) loves her Husqvarna FC250

MXA’s Jody Weisel, in the shade of a big tree, signals Shawn Bushnell that he will be starting the last lap when he goes by the finish line. The signal is to hold up one finger of your left hand and then rapdily circle one finger on your right hand around it. “We don’t need no stinkin’ pit board!” Photo: Dan Alamangos
