Greg Biffle named Honorary Pace Car Driver for Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, April 6

DARLINGTON, S.C. (March 27, 2025) – Darlington Raceway announced today that former NASCAR Cup Series star and two-time Cup Series winner at the Track Too Tough to Tame, Greg Biffle, will serve as the Honorary Pace Car Driver for the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday, April 6.
The former champion of the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will lead the field to green during the cornerstone event of The Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR.
"I'm thrilled to be the Honorary Pace Car driver for such a celebrated day in our sport, while being in the company of current and former competitors alike," said Biffle. "To have a distinguished role in Sunday's race and be part of Darlington's 75th Anniversary celebration this year is a true honor."
Biffle was the recipient of the 2024 National Motorsports Press Association's Myers Brothers Award for his extraordinary efforts aiding affected communities in Western North Carolina after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. Biffle notably spent consecutive days after the disaster traveling back and forth from the Blue Ridge Mountains rescuing families and making deliveries with his helicopter.
Those efforts led to widespread awareness of the communities' needs and sparked an industry-wide movement to continue helping those in affected areas.
"Greg is one of the fiercest drivers in NASCAR history and, as shown by his tremendous generosity in giving back to the communities in the Carolinas last year, a winner off the track ," said Darlington Raceway President Josh Harris. "We're glad to have an admired and respected former competitor like Greg lead the Cup Series drivers to green in the Goodyear 400."
Driving the No. 16 Ford through the entirety of his full-time Cup series tenure, Biffle experienced a great amount of success at The Lady in Black. He is one of seven legendary drivers to have won back-to-back Southern 500s in 2005 and 2006 joining Herb Thomas, Bobby Allison, Cale Yarborough, David Pearson, Dale Earnhardt, and Jeff Gordon. Biffle also earned a pair of pole awards at Darlington in 2008 and 2012 along with a Xfinity Series win in 2004.
Famously called "The Biff", he carved out a revered NASCAR career that spanned almost two decades. Beginning in the late 90s, the Vancouver, WA. native raced full-time in all three NASCAR national series and accumulated 56 total wins: amassing 19 Cup Series victories, 20 wins in the Xfinity Series and 17 triumphs in the CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.
Biffle's 19 Cup victories level with greats like Davey Allison, Buddy Baker and Fonty Flock, with a career high six wins coming in 2005 when he finished runner-up in the standings and was narrowly edged out by Tony Stewart in his closest title bid.
In 14 seasons of full-time competition, Biffle finished top five in the Cup Series points standings three times while also earning a CRAFTSMAN Truck Series title in 2000 and a Xfinity Series championship two years later in 2002, each driving for Jack Roush. He was named one of NASCAR's 75 greatest drivers in 2023 after stepping away from full-time racing in 2017.
Darlington Raceway's 75th Anniversary season races into high gear April 5-6 with The Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR. Drivers and teams will pay tribute to the rich heritage of NASCAR with throwback paint schemes and uniforms that will invoke Too Tough to Tame memories of days gone by.
Action begins Saturday, April 5, with the NASCAR Xfinity Series' Sport Clips Haircuts VFW Help A Hero 200. It concludes Sunday, April 6, with the NASCAR Cup Series' Goodyear 400.
