Hendrick Motorsports has signed teenage dirt ace Corey Day to a multiyear driver agreement that will see him compete in nearly 30 pavement races this year.
Day, 19, will have the support of HendrickCars.com.
"When Kyle Larson and Jeff Gordon say someone is the real deal, it certainly gets your attention," said Rick Hendrick. "Corey comes from a great racing family and in a short time has shown a level of talent that sets him apart. What he's already accomplished at this point in his career speaks volumes, and it's been impressive to see how quickly he's adapted to pavement. We're excited to welcome him to our team."
Day will start his season competing in the ARCA Menards Series race at Daytona International Speedway in the No. 77 Chevrolet. It will be the first of four races he will run in a Spire Motorsports entry with HendrickCars.com sponsorship and Mark McFarland serving as crew chief. The full slate of races will be at Daytona, Phoenix Raceway, Sonoma Raceway, and Kansas Speedway.
Additionally, Spire will field Day in eight Craftsman Truck Series races in the No. 7 Chevrolet. Those races will be at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Homestead-Miami Speedway, Martinsville Speedway, Bristol Motor Speedway, Rockingham Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, Indianapolis Raceway Park, and Darlington Raceway. Brian Pattie will be the crew chief.
Other appearances for Day this year are scheduled to include NASCAR Xfinity Series races and the Trans Am Series.
"This is a dream scenario," Day said. "I'm grateful to Mr. Hendrick and everyone at Hendrick Motorsports and Hendrick Automotive Group for providing a platform to grow and compete at this level. There's still a lot to learn on pavement, but having such incredible support gives me a ton of confidence. I'm ready to work hard and take in as much as I can. It's going to be a fun year."
Day made his pavement debut in 2024, earning a victory at Hickory Motor Speedway in a late model. He also ran four Craftsman Truck Series races and four ARCA Menards Series races.
A second-generation racer, Day was named Chili Bowl Rookie of the Year in 2022. In 2023, he won the King of the West 410 NARC championship and the World of Outlaws Gold Cup Race of Champions. Day competed in the High Limit Series in 2024 and select World of Outlaws events, winning 10 races and earning 25 top-10 finishes in 73 dirt starts.
