Mason Maggio driving for MBM Motorsports at Talladega
04/21/2025 01:00 PM
Mason Maggio is returning to MBM Motorsports to drive the No. 66 Denssi Energy Pouches Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Ag-Pro 300 at Talladega Superspeedway.
Denssi Energy Pouches has partnered with Maggio as primary sponsor for a number of NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2025, and few tracks on the calendar demonstrate the need for delivering high-performance athletes fast-acting energy without a crash like the 2.66-mile Talladega Superspeedway, the largest oval in NASCAR.
The 20-year-old Maggio continues to grow his NASCAR national series presence year-after-year. Since making his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut with MBM Motorsports early in 2023, he is up to 12 series starts and earned a career-best finish to date at Atlanta Motor Speedway, a track like Talladega that requires drafting and pack racing.
"I am super excited to be back behind the wheel of the No. 66 for Carl Long and MBM Motorsports," said an enthusiastic Maggio. "I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to be racing at Talladega. The guys brought a great car to this event last year. I am confident we have a fast racecar and thrilled to be working with the same team that gave me my first couple of starts in the Xfinity Series. Big thank you to Denssi Energy Pouches and all our amazing partners for the opportunity!”
The Palm Beach Gardens, Florida-native raced at Talladega last fall in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in the Floridian Motorsports No. 21, an entry that MBM Motorsports team owner Carl Long led as crew chief. Maggio raced inside the Top 3 late in the race and scored a Top 20 finish, a career-best at the time.
“Mason, Tony (Mason’s father), and I have been talking about adding more races since our Truck deal finished up last year, and we have finally put it together for Talladega,” said Long.
“Mason has shown me he is a quick study when put in new situations, be it a new car or new track. In our Talladega Truck race last year, Mason got collected in a crash and still managed to run on the lead lap and earn a solid finish. He can adapt very quickly.”
“Our car has shown speed on plate tracks. It’s going to be tough to qualify in on speed, but I feel confident we can do it with our equipment. We have put a lot of good people in place on short notice, including Hendrick engines, an experienced pit crew assembled by Phil Horton, and long-time spotter Steve Barkdoll on the roof.”
The NASCAR Xfinity Series does not practice at Talladega. The first lap on-track for all teams will be under the clock in qualifying on Friday, April 25 at 4:30 pm CT (5:30 pm ET), with live streaming coverage on The CW App. Raceday is Saturday, April 26 with live television coverage on The CW at 3 pm CT (4 pm ET).
