MBM Motorsports talks plans for 2025
12/28/2024 03:40 AM
Carl Long creates a list of 10 possible open cars for the Daytona 500
Last season, MBM Motorsports ran 13 NASCAR Cup Series races. Six different drivers piloted the No. 66 car.
Team owner Carl Long has opened up regarding plans for the 2025 racing season. The team is planning to run 20 races in the NASCAR Cup Series.
"We are definitely going to do the Daytona 500," Long stated via SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. "The car that we had at Martinsville, we've already tore it down and putting it back together and trying to maximize what we need to do for Daytona."
The Daytona 500 will be a tough one of the open teams. There could be around 10 open cars (non-charter teams) and they’ll be fighting for just 4 available open spots in the race.
The team will be leasing their engine from Roush Yates Engines.
Team Owner Carl Long comments on the 2025 season
"We only have 1 race committed with Chad Finchum in Texas with Hart HVAC. We are discussing a few other races depending on NASCAR approval of some drivers,” Carl Long opened via social media.
“It seems we are at the bottom of the list when funded drivers are looking at organizations to pair up with. Lots are looking for a Dale Jr type team and minimal $ (champagne taste, beer budget).”
“NASCAR has tightened up its approval process over the last few years, adding competitiveness to its criteria. It takes really good drivers to qualify these days."
"We know the big money full season deals for Xfinity go to others, so we did Cup and Truck races last year to fill out our schedule. We ran in 15 or so Cup races last year and plan on about 20 this year."
"Our 20 race Cup schedule will start at Bowman Gray. The races we want to run are a combination of driver-based sponsors and MBM sponsors. We expect the return of Josh Bilicki and Chad Finchum at a few races.”
“Garrett Smithley, Timmy Hill, and David Starr also could be in the #66. We are speaking to others not mentioned as well."
"Daytona 500 has no driver or sponsor signed at this time. It appears there will be 10 cars for 4 spots.”
