
NASCAR's big Daytona 500 penalty to Chase Briscoe overturned!

Joe Gibbs Racing was issued a massive penalty and fine during the week of the Daytona 500
During the week of the Daytona 500 the car driven by Chase Brsicoe was found to have a spoiler infraction. On Feb. 19, 2025 driver Briscoe and crew chief James Small were issued an L2 penalty.
Infraction: Sections 14.1.C&D&D: Overall Assembled Vehicle Rules; 14.5.8.A: Spoiler (Note: Modification of a single source supplied part)
The team was docked 100 championship points and 10 playoff points. The crew chief was issued a four-race suspension and the team was fined $100,000.

Appeal
Joe Gibbs Racing elected to appeal the penalty. On Wednesday, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel are reached a decision on the appeal:
Ruling: That the Appellants did not violate the Rule(s) set forth in the Penalty Notice.
In reaching the above decision, the panel provided the following explanation:
"The panel believes that the elongation of some of the holes on the number 19 Cup car spoiler base is caused by the process of attaching that specific spoiler base to the rear deck and not modification of the single source part."
