Steve Phelps becomes Commissioner of NASCAR
NASCAR has made structural changes to leadership roles.
Steve Phelps has been promoted from NASCAR President to the Commissioner of NASCAR. Commissioner is a newly formed role for the company.
Phelps will “overseeing”oversee all aspects of America's top motorsport, including the International Motorsports Association (IMSA) and all 15 NASCAR-owned or operated tracks.”
Steve O’Donnell has been promoted from his current role of Chief Operating Officer to the new President of NASCAR. O’Donnell now leads day-to-day leadership of all three NASCAR National Series
O’Donnell becomes the 6th person to hold the role of NASCAR President.

Jim France remains the CEO of the privately-owned company.
