Main sponsors pile the pressure on Yamaha ahead of the 2025 season

After Prometeon disappeared from the Yamaha WorldSBK Team name on the 2025 entry list, Pata has urged Yamaha to improve in 2025.
The logo of snack producer Pata has been a main part of Yamaha's World Superbike and Supersport project for many years. Pata's owner, Remo Gobbi, is a passionate motorbike racing fan and has urged Yamaha to 'rehabilitate themselves' for the 2025 season.
Yamaha had a difficult 2024 World Superbike campaign as they failed to win a single race. Both Andrea Locatelli and Jonathan Rea had struggled throughout the year. The Italian ended the season in seventh and Rea was further down the order in 13th.
"We have been associated with Yamaha for ten years and I have invested large sums of money. We have achieved numerous successes with titles in the Supersport World Championship and with Toprak in the Superbike category. The question, however, is what the future will look like, because last year has demoralized me," the entrepreneur admitted to GPOne.
"I have already spoken to Yamaha and asked them to do everything they can to rehabilitate themselves from 2024. The priority is to continue with them in 2026 and I would like to clarify this.
"The continued commitment as main sponsor will not be a sure-fire success! If the results remain the same in 2025, we should reassess," emphasised the Italian.
"The bond with Yamaha is strong and I suffer with the riders. On the one hand [Andrea] Locatelli, but above all [Jonathan] Rea - a six-time champion who, for me, remains the greatest rider in the history of the Superbike World Championship."
Pata is not the only Yamaha sponsor which is having issues with the Japanese manufacturer's performance. The tyre brand Prometeon, which belongs to Pirelli, has already gone one step further and has reportedly stopped or at least significantly reduced its involvement in the Yamaha factory team. Prometeon has disappeared from the team name in the 2025 entry list.
