The Aruba.it Racing - Ducati rider, Nicolo Bulega, had been declared the favourite but nobody expected the sensational performance that he displayed.

In the opening race of the 2025 World Superbike Championship, the best battle was for second place. Nicolo Bulega obliterated the field as he stormed away in the opening laps and won by 4.811 seconds.

The Italian was delighted after the race as he had started his Championship challenge in the perfect way.

"What a way to start the Championship," Bulega said.

"I am very happy because my feeling was good from the first session on Monday's test. Every time I go on the bike I know what I can do and what I have to do. I am enjoying riding my bike lap by lap, it is an amazing feeling."

Despite his cool manner on the track, Bulega admitted that before the race he was nervous. The 25-year-old expected heavier resistance at the start of the race from the riders around him on the grid.

"Honestly, I was not very relaxed before the race," Bulega claimed.

"Because I knew that close to me there were some aggressive riders, especially in the first laps. I tried to stay calm and concentrated, and I started good and finished good."

After such a dominant performance Bulega is the clear favourite for the Superpole Race and Race Two on Sunday.

However, the Italian prefers to keep a low profile, as he does not want to give himself bad luck.

"If I continue with this feeling I can stay positive, I would like to continue in this position," Bulega said.

"I always say 'no' [when asked if I am the favourite], because I think it will give me bad luck. So, I stay low profile and keep working."
