Marc VDS Racing and Sam Lowes had a lot planned for the Jerez Test, but weather conditions slowed down their progress.

The 2024 World Superbike season marked the start of a new era for Sam Lowes as he entered the World Superbike paddock.

The British rider had previously ridden in the MotoGP paddock for 10 years, nine years in Moto2 and a year in MotoGP. Lowes moved across from Moto2 to World Superbikes with the Marc VDS Racing Team on a Ducati Panigale V4 R.

After his first season in the class was plagued with injuries Lowes is returning with the same setup in 2025. Lowes was out on track at the Jerez World Superbike Test to kickstart his second campaign in the Championship.

Lowes had a 'busy schedule' for the two-day test, but it was cut down to half a day due to the adverse conditions at the Spanish circuit.

"It was nice after the winter break to get back on a WorldSBK machine for the first time in a while and feel that performance and just cool to be back with my crew," Lowes commented after the test.

"It's a shame the conditions were tough because we had a busy schedule, but it was quite windy on the first day. We decided to only do half a day, but I felt up to speed quickly and we were able to try a race setting that we used testing here in Jerez back in November.

"The 56 laps I managed were more than we thought we'd complete because coming here we knew the forecasts were for some poor weather. So, nobody really got any productive testing in because of the conditions.

"Hopefully we'll get some better weather next week in Portimao and we can knuckle down and do some more positive work."

The next test is scheduled for the 28th and 29th of January at Portimao. The final test of the year will take place on the 17th and 18th of February at Phillip Island ahead of the first round of the season between the 21st and 23rd of February.
