Aston Martin restructures - names Cowell as F1 team principal

Aston Martin F1 has announced a significant restructuring of its senior management team, aimed at enhancing leadership clarity ahead of the 2025 F1 season.
Effective immediately, Andy Cowell takes on the dual role of CEO and Team Principal, overseeing all aspects of the team's operations.
Under his leadership, the Aerodynamics, Engineering, and Performance Departments have been restructured into two specialized teams: a trackside operations team and a technology-focused team based at the AMR Technology Campus. Both teams will report directly to Cowell.
A Horizontal Management Structure
Mike Krack, who joined Aston Martin in 2022 as Team Principal, will now serve as Chief Trackside Officer.
In his new role, Krack will continue to focus on maximizing the car's performance at the racetrack, leading the trackside team to deliver results on race weekends.
The AMR Technology Campus team will be led by Enrico Cardile, who assumes the position of Chief Technical Officer.
Cardile's team will dedicate itself entirely to the innovation and engineering required to create competitive new race cars.
The Italian will oversee the architecture, design, and construction of future race cars, ensuring Aston Martin stays at the forefront of technological development in Formula 1.
Meanwhile, Tom McCullough will transition into a key leadership role within Aston Martin's broader racing operations.
In his new role, the Team Silverstone veteran will focus on expanding the team's presence across a wider range of racing categories.
A Natural Evolution
"I have spent the last three months understanding and assessing our performance, and I've been incredibly impressed by the dedication, commitment and hard work of this team," commented Cowell, who joined Aston Martin last summer as Group CEO.
"With the completion of the AMR Technology Campus and our transition in 2026 to a full works team, alongside our strategic partners Honda and Aramco, we are on a journey to becoming a Championship-winning team.
"These organizational changes are a natural evolution of the multi-year plans that we have scheduled to make and I'm incredibly excited about the future."

The upcoming 2025 F1 season will mark the final year of Aston Martin's partnership with Mercedes, with Honda supplying its next-generation power unit exclusively to the team from 2026.
This year, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll will once again lead Aston's efforts out on the track.
