Italian energy giant Eni has announced a multi-year strategic partnership agreement with the Alpine F1 Team and the Renault Group, beginning with the 2025 season.

The partnership rekindles a relationship that began during the Enstone squad's Benetton days back in 2000n with Eni's AGIP brand, and marks a significant step for the energy group's involvement in motorsport innovation, sustainability, and the development of advanced fuel technologies.

As part of the commercial and technical deal, Eni will collaborate with Alpine on developing and testing bio-gasoline for racing while exploring cutting-edge innovations in fuel technologies.

Eni branding will also be visible on Alpine's F1 car, driver suits, and throughout the team's operations, with its Enilive brand set to be highlighted at selected Grands Prix on the calendar.

A Reunion Rooted in History

Former Benetton boss and current executive advisor to Alpine, Flavio Briatore, expressed his excitement about the renewed partnership.

"It is with immense pride that we welcome Eni back to Formula 1 with the BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team," Briatore said.

"Eni formed a great part of our history at this team and has also, in the past, been an important partner in Formula 1.

"We share common goals and objectives, especially in regard to energy efficiency, sustainability, and future bio-gasoline products.

"To have them back on board at BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team is great and we look forward to doing many exciting things together in future both on and off the track."

More Than Just Racing

The partnership between Eni and Alpine extends beyond Formula 1, as the energy conglomerate will also collaborate with the Renault Group.

Together, the companies aim to identify new opportunities for decarbonization in the transport sector, including electric mobility infrastructure, smart mobility services, and energy supply solutions.

Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi highlighted the strategic importance of the collaboration.

"Today we have signed a significant agreement allowing Eni and Renault Group to combine the industrial standing and technological leadership that the two companies represent in their respective sectors with the aim of opening new paths of development in areas fundamental to sustainable transport," he said.

"The introduction of bio-gasoline testing through the BWT Alpine Formula 1 Team is equally important as it reflects F1's continuous pursuit of absolute technological excellence in engine development and performance."

Driving Toward a Sustainable Future

The collaboration aligns with Formula 1's ongoing push toward sustainability, including the introduction of 100% sustainable fuels by 2026.

Eni's involvement strengthens Alpine's commitment to energy efficiency and innovation while providing a platform for Eni to showcase its advancements in renewable energy and sustainable fuel solutions.

With Alpine setting its sights set on competing at the front of the grid, the partnership with Eni adds another layer of technological expertise and sustainability credentials to its ambitions.

The return of Eni marks a milestone for both the team and the sport, rekindling a historic relationship while pushing forward into a greener future for motorsport and the broader transport sector.
