McLaren has strengthened its long-term vision for success in Formula 1 by securing a multi-year contract extension for Peter Prodromou, the team's Technical Director, Aerodynamics.

The move solidifies the outfit's commitment to its current engineering leadership and signals a continued focus on long-term success.

Prodromou, a veteran of the sport with over three decades of experience, has been instrumental in McLaren's resurgence in the past few seasons.

A Legacy of Excellence

Prodromou's association with McLaren stretches back over three decades. After initially joining the team's design office in 1991, he rose to the position of Chief Aerodynamicist before moving to Red Bull Racing.

During his tenure at Milton Keynes, he was a crucial part of their championship-winning success before returning to McLaren in 2014 as Chief Engineer.

Since being appointed Technical Director, Aerodynamics in March 2023, the 56-year-old engineer has been a driving force behind McLaren's technical resurgence, helping push the team back to the sharp end of the F1 grid.

A Vital Piece in McLaren's Puzzle

Prodromou has played a pivotal role in shaping the aerodynamic philosophy that ultimately culminated in the team's ninth Constructors' Championship in 2024.

"I am delighted to continue my role as Technical Director, Aerodynamics at McLaren F1 Team," commented the Greek-Cypriot.

"It is an honour to be part of such a collaborative team and contributing to this strong upwards trajectory.

"Following last season's success, I look forward to contributing further to our shared ambition of securing more World Championships," said Prodromou.

"I'm grateful to Zak and Andrea for their continued confidence in me as a Technical Director, Aerodynamics and also to all my colleagues in the team who have provided the highest class of support to me at a personal and professional level."

McLaren's Vision for the Future

The extension of Prodromou's contract is the latest in a series of long-term commitments made by McLaren to key figures within the team.

The recent renewals of drivers Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, along with Team Principal Andrea Stella, underscore McLaren's commitment to stability and sustained excellence.

Team Principal Andrea Stella highlighted the significance of Prodromou's extension, emphasizing his invaluable contributions to McLaren's recent transformation.

"It is my great privilege to confirm the extension of Peter's contract on a multi-year deal," said the Italian.

"The cultural, organisational and technical leadership Peter has brought has been invaluable, and he has been a key architect of the team's performance turnaround, on and off the track, securing the team's ninth FIA Formula 1 Constructors' Championship in 2024."

"The journey we have been on together as a team, we could not have done without Peter, and we look forward to continuing our quest of fighting for further World Championships together.

"Thank you, Peter, for your commitment and dedication to the McLaren F1 Team, we are all proud to call you our teammate."

As McLaren gears up for another intense season of competition, securing one of the sport's most respected technical minds is a significant step toward achieving their ambitious goals.

With continuity, expertise, and a winning mentality, McLaren is positioning itself as a formidable force in the quest for future Formula 1 championships.
