Michael Schumacher is set to become a grandfather after his daughter Gina announced she is pregnant, just a few months after he reportedly attended her wedding.

The Formula One legend was said to have made his first ‘public appearance’ in 11 years when Gina married Iain Bethke in September.

Very few people have seen Schumacher since he sustained a life-changing brain injury during a skiing accident in 2013, the full details of which have never been disclosed.

It is said only three close family members and a team of medics have access to the 55-year-old, with friend and former teammate Johnny Herbert rubbishing the reports that Schumacher was at the wedding in Spain.

Additionally, the family are currently in the middle of a blackmail trial after the Ferrari legend’s ex-bodyguard Markus Fritsche allegedly threatened to leak photos of Schumacher in exchange for £12million.

However, there has been some good news for the Schumacher family of late, with Gina announcing on Monday that she was expecting her first child with Bethke.

In a heartwarming Instagram post, the accomplished equestrian champion wrote: ‘Impatiently awaiting the arrival of our little girl.’
