Long-time Sauber Managing Director and Team Representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi will leave the Swiss-based Formula 1 outfit at the end of January 2025, marking the conclusion of an eight-year journey with the team.

Alunni Bravi, an experienced motorsport professional, joined Sauber in 2017 as General Counsel and Board Member.

Over time, his responsibilities expanded significantly, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director in 2022.

A year later, he became the public face of the team, taking on the role of Team Representative at race weekends and in official functions away from the track.

Like Leaving a Family

Reflecting on his departure, Alunni Bravi expressed both pride and gratitude for his time at Hinwil.

"It is an emotional time as my journey with Sauber reaches its end," he said.

"Since I joined in 2017, I have seen this team grow and change beyond what anyone could have imagined.

"This organisation went through exciting and difficult times alike, all without ever losing its spirit and its commitment, which is something I find inspiring, and I was proud of being able to represent the team as its public face in the last two years.

"As I move on to a new project, I want to thank Finn Rausing [team owner], all those who put so much trust and faith in me at Sauber and Audi, and all the colleagues I have been working with for the last eight years.

"This team is a family and has a bright future ahead."

A Legacy of Leadership

During his tenure, Alunni Bravi helped guide Sauber through a transformative period, including a rebranding phase under Alfa Romeo and preparations for its future collaboration with Audi starting in 2026.

His leadership played a crucial role in navigating the challenges and opportunities that came with these changes.

Sauber's COO and CTO, Mattia Binotto, paid tribute to Alunni Bravi's contributions to the team.

"Having worked closely with him in the months since my arrival to Hinwil, I want to pay tribute to Alessandro, a true team player who came to embody the essence of Sauber throughout the years," Binotto said.

"Alessandro played a wide range of roles within the team, steering it through difficult and exciting times alike.

"As he moves onto a new venture, the whole company would like to thank him for all his energy and contributions over the years and wish him the best for the future."

As a reminder, adding to the changes at Sauber, long-standing Red Bull sporting director Jonathan Wheatley will join the Audi-Sauber project as its team principal in 2025 after a period of gardening leave.

This appointment signals a clear statement of intent from Audi as they prepare for their full entry into Formula 1, bringing Wheatley's extensive experience and proven track record to the helm of the team.
