Lewis Hamilton explains difficulties with Ferrari SF-25 on Friday practice in Melbourne

Lewis Hamilton did not seem particularly satisfied when speaking to the media after Friday's sessions at the Australian Grand Prix as his Ferrari SF-25 was further down the timesheets than anticipated at the 5.278-kilometre Albert Park Grand Prix Circuit in Melbourne. The British driver finished only fifth in FP2 and as low as 12th in the first free practice session.
Of course, Friday is not the time to draw conclusions or worry too much. However, Lewis Hamilton's lap times suggest he has not yet fully connected with his car. His comments after FP2 were also not entirely positive.
Lewis Hamilton struggling with the Ferrari in Australia?
"Being here is definitely super exciting. The anticipation for this week has been incredible, and it felt amazing to hit the track with Ferrari here. Honestly, the car is so different from any other experience I've had on this circuit. It took me some time to adapt in FP1. FP2 was a bit better, but we are still building step by step," Lewis Hamilton explained.
Asked about the nature of these differences compared to his previous experiences in Melbourne, the British driver responded candidly without going into too much detail. "It's just very different. But the car doesn't feel bad at all—it just requires a different driving style. I'm adjusting my driving little by little, but I'm enjoying it." – he pointed out.
The seven-time Formula 1 world champion is thus going through a learning phase with Ferrari, working to refine his feeling with the car to extract its full potential. The progress between FP1 and FP2 was evident, but more work will be needed to reach the desired level.
