Porsche Says The Macan Will Stay An EV, But A New Gas SUV Is Coming

When Porsche launched the Macan EV one year ago, it said that an all-electric powertrain would be the only way to experience its smallest SUV. Due to cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the old gas Macan, it made no sense to keep producing the car for markets where that doesn't matter, like the US. But in recent months, reports have begun to circulate claiming that Porsche may rethink EV-only models, potentially resurrecting a combustion-powered Macan. Porsche itself indicated a change in strategy late last year, and now the German automaker has come to a final conclusion: "The Macan will be sold exclusively as an all-electric model worldwide." However, it appears that something else will come along to fill the gas Macan's shoes.
