The Maserati Boomerang, one of the first-ever "wedge cars," took the 1972 Geneva Motor Show by storm. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it featured the mid-engined platform and 4.7-liter V8 from the contemporary Maserati Bora, draped in arresting sheetmetal that took its donor car's low, sleek design to the extreme. The elder Giugiaro's wedgy design ethos seems to be a genetic trait, as his son Fabrizio used the Boomerang as inspiration for the Peralta S, an MC20 supercar rebodied in bare, mirror-polished aluminum.
