The fault could cause the front passenger seat mounting bolts on the electric vehicles to become loose or detach.

Volvo has recalled 15 examples of its 2023 Volvo XC40 Recharge and 2023 Volvo C40 Rechargeelectric vehicles (EVs), citing a potential fault with its front passenger seat mounting bolts.

The affected vehicles are stamped 2023 models, but may have been sold at a later date.

The recall notice, lodged with the Department of Infrastructure, says: Due to a manufacturing defect, the front passenger seat mounting bolts may not have been tightened according to specifications and could become loose or detach. As a result, the seat may move inadvertently.

"If the front passenger seat moves inadvertently in the event of an accident, it could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants."
