- Priced from $142,900 before on-road costs
Australian details of the facelifted 2025 BMW iX electric SUV have been announced ahead of its arrival in the middle of the year.
BMW Australia has confirmed the updated iX will be limited to the xDrive 45 M Sport when it launches, but it said details of other variants – likely to include the new iX M70 replacing the M60 – will be announced “at a later date”.
The iX xDrive 45 M Sport replaces the outgoing xDrive 40 Sport with more power, an increased driving range, faster charging, and new features, for a $6000 price rise to $142,900 before on-road costs.
Pre-update versions of the BMW iX started from $130,900 for the iX xDrive 40 and topped out at $233,400 for the iX M60, which has been replaced by a more powerful M70 variant for its facelift.
The xDrive 45 now delivers 300kW and 700Nm, up 60kW and 30Nm over the xDrive 40 for a 5.1-second 0-100km/h acceleration time, a one-second improvement.
The energy content of the iX’s high-voltage battery has increased by around 30 per cent to 94.8kWh, while it is the first BMW electric vehicle to have semiconductors made of silicon carbide components to improve its energy efficiency.

Its driving range is rated at 602 kilometres on the European WLTP lab-test standard, 182km more than the xDrive 40.
It now supports 175kW direct-current (DC) fast charging – up from 150kW – while its battery pre-conditioning system has been optimised and its charging socket outlet now has a manual release button.
Design changes for the iX include a new grille with an ‘Iconic Glow’ illuminated surround, revised front and rear bumpers, and updated adaptive LED headlights with vertical daytime running light signatures.
BMW has made its M Sport package available on the iX for the first time, which replaces the outgoing Sport package.
Other revisions include new Arctic Race Blue and Dune Grey paint colours and redesigned 21-, 22- and 23-inch alloy wheels – with the base M Sport featuring 21-inch wheels, down from 22 inches in the outgoing Sport variant.
Standard features for Australia now include a panoramic glass roof, a heated steering wheel, and a tyre pressure monitoring system, while several options are available, including the $6500 Executive Package, active steering for $3000 and adaptive air suspension for $4000 – with the latter two options new for the entry model.
The 2025 BMW iX xDrive 45 will arrive in Australia mid-year, with details on other variants to be announced “at a later date”.
