GWM’s Jeep Wrangler fighter adds the option of a 2.4-litre turbo diesel to the range, which brings increased payload and towing capabilities.

  • 2025 GWM Tank 300 pricing and specifications
  • 135kW/480Nm 2.4-litre diesel joins the range
  • Diesel also gets higher payload, tow rating
  • Priced from $47,990 drive-away before special offers

The 2025 GWM Tank 300 range has added the option of diesel power, arriving in showrooms now.

Borrowed from the Cannon and Cannon Alpha utes, the 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine produces 135kW/480Nm, and is matched with a GWM-developed nine-speed automatic transmission.

Prices for the Tank 300 diesel start from $47,990 drive-away – a match for the petrol, but the latter is currently being offered on discount until the end of March for $45,990.

The 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol four-cylinder engine remains the entry-level powertrain for the Tank 300, sending 162kW/380Nm through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

It claims fuel consumption of 9.5 litres per 100 kilometres, against 7.8L/100km for the diesel.

The hybrid powertrain is the most expensive and most powerful, using the same 2.0-litre petrol engine (albeit de-tuned) and an electric motor to develop combined outputs of 255kW and 648Nm.

It is priced at a $7000 premium above the petrol and diesel, at $55,990 drive-away in Lux trim – or $50,990 after special offers.

The diesel-powered Tank 300 has the advantage of a larger payload – 600kg, up from 397kg for the petrol and 420kg for the hybrid – and increased towing capacity at 3000kg, rather than 2500kg.

Similar to the existing petrol and hybrid variants of the Tank 300, there are two trim levels to choose from with the diesel: Lux and Ultra.

Both trim levels have a relatively high level of standard equipment, but it’s worth noting there are some subtle differences between the six combinations available – see the specification list at the bottom of this story for more details.

The 2025 GWM Tank 300 is available in dealerships now.
