The LDV Terron 9 diesel and eTerron 9 electric utes are due in Australian showrooms by mid-2025, with the brand to continue to sell the existing T60 alongside the all-new models.
The 2025 LDV Terron 9 diesel ute has been confirmed for Australia, with showroom arrivals due by June next year – joining the electric 2025 LDV eTerron 9 ute.
LDV Australia has announced its Terron 9 line-up – with diesel or electric power – will be sold alongside the current T60 ute but likely at a higher price, with the new model having a larger footprint to rival the GWM Cannon Alpha.
Local testing of two camouflaged diesel Terron 9 prototype vehicles has commenced ahead of its launch to validate active safety systems, including its speed sign recognition system, lane-keep assist and "other electronic aids".
The test route is said to have included major arterials and backroads in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland, along with the metropolitan areas and outskirts of Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Government approval documents indicate the Terron 9 will have a new 2.5-litre single-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine with 164kW – compared to the current T60's 160kW 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel with 500Nm.
It has been homologated with an eight-speed automatic transmission, two- or four-wheel-drive, a 3.5-tonne braked towing capacity – up from 3.0 tonnes in the T60 Max – and a 220-millimetre ground clearance.
The eTerron 9 has been approved with a single 200kW rear electric motor – or for the first time in the LDV line-up – an all-wheel-drive setup with a 200kW rear and 125kW front motors for a 325kW total system output.
It is fitted with a 102kWh battery overseas with a WLTP-rated 430-kilometre driving range for the dual-motor all-wheel-drive model.
LDV acknowledged a "modest" number of $100,000 two-wheel-drive eT60 electric utes have been delivered since it launched in Australia in late 2022 – with around 100 examples reported as sold to date – but it has "high expectations" for the eTerron 9.

"This is a completely different vehicle, inside and out," said LDV Australia general manager Dinesh Chinnappa.
"We are proud that the LDV eT60 was the first electric ute in Australian showrooms, but we are also proud to demonstrate just how far electric ute technology has progressed with this all-new model."
Measuring 5500mm long, 1997mm wide and 1860mm tall, with a 3300mm wheelbase, the Terron 9 is 105mm longer, 97mm wider and 41mm taller than the T60 Max Plus, with an extra 125mm between the front and rear axles.
It is larger in most dimensions than the GWM Cannon Alpha ute – except height and wheelbase – with both vehicles slotting between the traditional mid-size ute segment and full-size standard-wheelbase models from the United States, such as the Ford F-150 and Ram 1500.
The first examples of the Terron 9 and eTerron 9 are due to arrive in Australia between April and June 2025, pending any delays.

It could follow an update for the T60 – which will sit underneath the Terron 9 in LDV's ute line-up – with the addition of potentially life-saving autonomous emergency braking (AEB) technology when it becomes mandatory for every new vehicle sold in Australia from March 2025.
The automatic LDV T60 Max Plus is fitted with AEB – but all other variants, including the manual Plus, do not include the feature that has been standard in a Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux since 2019.
A Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series – which dates back to 1984 – received the technology in late 2022.
LDV Australia general manager Dinesh Chinnappa said the decision to sell the older T60 alongside the Terron 9 line-up will allow the brand to ensure it does not "leave our traditional ute buyers behind".

"We want to make sure when a ute buyer walks into an LDV showroom, we have a vehicle that offers value across a range of price points.
"The LDV Terron ute series will broaden our offering across the ute segment."
Australian pricing and specification details for the LDV Terron 9 diesel and electric eTerron 9 will be confirmed closer to each model's launch date.
