2025 Mazda BT-50 facelift confirmed: Biggest update in four years due next week

The Mazda BT-50 is set to follow its Isuzu D-Max sibling with a “comprehensive” facelift promising a revised exterior, upgraded cabin and new safety tech.

Mazda has confirmed a “comprehensive” update for the 2025 Mazda BT-50 ute will be unveiled next Friday, 18 October, months after the arrival of its facelifted Isuzu D-Max twin.

A teaser image of the updated BT-50 published today reveals it will gain revised LED headlights inspired by the latest CX-5 family SUV, and a new front grille wearing what may be one of the largest Mazda emblems ever fitted to a production vehicle.

The Japanese car giant claims the ute will undergo “a comprehensive redesign inside and out, as well as significant enhancements to the Human Machine Interface (HMI), associated safety and assistance systems and additional functionality”.

It is unclear what this entails, but it is expected the changes will follow the lead of its Isuzu D-Max sibling, which was updated overseas late last year ahead of Australian deliveries earlier this year.

Upgrades applied to the Isuzu include a restyled front bumper, new headlights and tail-lights, a larger 7.0-inch instrument display (up from 4.2-inch), USB-C ports, and braking capability for the rear cross-traffic alert system.

It also gained an updated 9.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, with new software, dials for volume and radio tuning (replacing buttons), and touch-sensitive controls in place of physical buttons in place of infotainment functions.

A selection of the D-Max’s upgrades were introduced to the BT-50 in a Thai-market update earlier this year, including a Rough Terrain Mode for off-road driving, and wireless Android Auto.

Australia is “the lead market co-ordinating the global launch” of the 2025 Mazda BT-50, according to the car maker – due to be unveiled at 11:00am AEDT on Friday 18 October 2024.
