Pre-orders open for Chinese electric challenger brand Zeekr’s first model, the X SUV, but the car maker’s dealership footprint is still unknown.

  • 2025 Zeekr X pricing and specifications
  • New Chinese challenger EV priced sharply
  • Two-variant range with RWD and AWD
  • Priced from $56,900 before on-road costs

The 2025 Zeekr X electric SUV will be priced below its Volvo EX30 cousin, but above the platform-sharing Smart #1 when it enters showrooms later this year.

Available from $56,900 before on-road costs for the entry-level rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant, the Zeekr X undercuts the most affordable EX30 by $3090 but sits $2000 above the Smart #1 – the latter only available for now through three LSH Auto-owned Mercedes-Benz showrooms in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.

The X is also available in all-wheel-drive (AWD) form, priced at $64,900 or $5090 and $3000 less than the Volvo and Smart equivalents respectively.

Powering the X RWD is a single electric motor – unsurprisingly driving the rear wheels – with 200kW/343Nm outputs, while the 66kWh lithium-ion battery enables a driving range rating of 540km under local ADR 81/02 testing standards.

Although sharing the same platform, underpinnings, outputs, and battery size, the Zeekr X RWD appears to trump the Volvo EX30 Single Motor Extended Plus for driving range (480km) and Smart #1 Pro+ (420km).

However, both of these models are rated according to more stringent European WLTP standards, so not directly compared to the Zeekr X’s ADR 81/02 figures.

As for the X AWD, the top-spec variant adds an electric motor to the front axle, bumping outputs to 315kW/543Nm but cutting range to 470km (again, under local testing standards).

Once again, this appears to beat the claimed ranges of the equivalent EX30 Twin Motor Performance Ultra (460km WLTP) and Smart #1 Brabus (400km WLTP).

In terms of performance, the Zeekr X RWD is claimed to accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 5.6 seconds, while the AWD variant cuts the time down to 3.8s.

Both Zeekr X variants feature 150kW DC fast-charging capabilities that can recoup 10-80 per cent battery in around 30 minutes, but only the AWD version has 11kW AC charging compared with the RWD's 7.2kW maximum AC output.

Under maximum AC charging, the 0-100 per cent battery wait time is 7.5 and 11.5 hours for the AWD and RWD respectively.

All Zeekr X vehicles also feature vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, allowing them to act as portable generators to power electronic devices.

Standard equipment includes a two-tone exterior, panoramic glass roof, power-adjustable driver's seat, an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, rain-sensing wipers, 19-inch wheels, wireless smartphone charger, and dual-zone climate control.

The Zeekr X also boasts a 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, as well as an always-online internet connection that allows for over-the-air updates and WiFi hot-spotting.

Buyers of the X RWD can also choose a Convenience Package, with highlights including a power-adjustable passenger seat, heated and cooled front seats, a heated steering wheel, and an uprated 13-speaker Yamaha sound system, priced at $4000.

The Convenience Package comes as standard on the X AWD, but the top-spec electric car also gains a 24.3-inch augmented reality head-up display, 20-inch wheels, and an Intelligent B-Pillar Display – an external circular display that can show information such as charging status.

Safety systems across the board are also comprehensive, with forward collision warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot detection, front and rear cross-traffic alerts, a surround-view monitor, traffic sign recognition, and seven airbags among the highlights.

Five exterior colours are available – Crystal White, Palace Beige, Mist Grey, Grid Grey and Pine Green – all as a no-cost option.

The standard interior finish is Charcoal Black and Stone Grey, but customers can opt for Midnight Blue and Polar White or Mulberry and Rose for an additional $500.

All Zeekr X models come with a five-year/unlimited kilometre warranty and an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty – both matching the industry standards.

Roadside assistance and connected services are also included with the warranty, while scheduled servicing is every two years or 40,000km – whichever occurs first.

While customers can pre-order the X now through the Zeekr Australia website, the brand has yet to announce dealer locations where potential buyers can sample the car before committing to a purchase.

Zeekr is also running a promotion until the end of October where any expressions of interest on the website which results in a vehicle purchase will also come with a 12-month unlimited charging subscription – through an undisclosed partner – and a 7kW home charger.
