Brisbane hoon filmed driving on opposite side of freeway

The alleged offender was seen on video driving an orange Holden Commodore ute into oncoming traffic before police arrested and charged the 41-year-old man.
A Queensland driver has been arrested and charged with multiple offences after being filmed dangerously driving a Holden Commodore ute onto incoming traffic along one of the state's busiest freeways.
According to a report by 9News, the 41-year-old hoon driver was seen excessively speeding along the Pacific Motorway north of the New South Wales border on 30 November 2024.
In the video – uploaded by 9News to the social media platform Instagram – multiple witnesses recorded other vehicles swerving to dodge the driver before police blocked off a stretch of the freeway, where officers later arrested the alleged offender.
"Around 11:00am police received numerous calls in relation to an orange utility [vehicle] allegedly being driven in a southbound direction in the northbound lane of the Pacific Motorway (M1)," a Queensland Police Service spokesperson told Drive.
"Police tracked the vehicle on the motorway where the vehicle was stopped at Pimpama and the man was taken into custody," they added.
Queensland Police confirmed the Holden Commodore ute was not reported stolen.
The alleged offender from Helensvale – a northern Gold Coast suburb – has been charged with one count each of "dangerous operation of a vehicle and adversely affected by an intoxicating substance, evasion, possessing tainted property and possession of a knife".
He was expected to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on December 2, 2024.
