It's not going to be called the ‘Big Dog’ or the ‘Dargo’, but the H7 will be another choice in the mid-sized SUV segment in Australia.
GWM Australia has confirmed the H7 medium-sized SUV – which is also known as the Big Dog in other markets – will arrive in Australia in the third quarter of 2025.
It will launch with a hybrid powertrain, and will sit alongside the H6, H6 GT and Tank 300 offerings in the mid-sized SUV segment from GWM.

Based on the same platform as the Haval H6 and H6 GT, the H7 has a more 'rugged' design and will bring an edge of off-road suitability, according to GWM.
The H7 has a more squared-off body design, along with off-road themes like fender flares, roof rails and round headlights. However, the shared underpinnings will bring a similar range of powertrains and drive systems to what is currently available in the H6.
Steve Maciver, head of marketing and communications for GWM for Australia and New Zealand, said the H7 will plug a gap between the H6 and Tank 300, in the competitive mid-sized SUV segment:
"Your Haval H6 is your much more conventional, family-focused mid-sized SUV. The H7 is going to be brought to the market as a more rugged, more robust version of that car." Maciver explained.

"Ultimately, the underpinnings of that car is the same (as the H6), but you'll get a couple of additional four-wheel drive features in there."
"It's probably sitting in that 'goldilocks zone' in between the Haval H6 and the Tank 300."
The Haval H7 comes with a broader range of expansion for GWM in Australia, which includes the recently launched plug-in hybrid H6 GT, diesel-powered Tank 300 in March 2025, the new Cannon Alpha plug-in hybrid and new Haval H6 in the second half of the 2025, and the Tank 500 plug-in hybrid seven-seat SUV later in the year.
The H7 will also be an important model for GWM in Australia, as it targets over 50,000 vehicle sales in Australia in 2025.
