An MG executive has confirmed the brand will debut “multiple new vehicles” at its stand at the 2025 Melbourne Motor Show in early April.
MG has announced it will reveal “multiple new vehicles” at the 2025 Melbourne Motor Show in early April.
It is the first carmaker to publicly confirm it will debut one or more new vehicles at the show, with event organisers claiming “nine new vehicles” will make their first Australian appearance at the event in total.
“MG are excited to confirm we will reveal multiple new vehicles at the [2025] Melbourne Motor Show,” MG Motor Australia chief commercial officer Giles Belcher said in a media statement.

“This will be one of the first times globally people can get up close to these vehicles. We’re excited to have a superb stand planned for the centre of the exhibition that shouldn't be missed”.
Potential new MG vehicles which could be unveiled at the Melbourne Motor Show include the IM L6 electric sedan and IM LS6 electric SUV – along with the MG S5 small electric SUV, the replacement to the ZS EV.
The IM models will be sold at MG showrooms in Australia, but it remains unclear if they will be renamed to an MG or if the IM Motors branding – a joint venture between MG parent SAIC Motor, the Alibaba Group, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech – will be retained locally.
The brand is also preparing to launch a Tesla Model Y-rivalling electric mid-size SUV – a successor to the MG Marvel R currently sold in Europe – and the petrol and hybrid MG QS seven-seat SUV in Australia in 2025, but these may not be ready in time for the motor show in early April.

Plug-less hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of the MG HS mid-size SUV are due in Australia in the second half of 2025 to rival the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and BYD Sealion 6 PHEV respectively, among others, and could make their Australian-market debut at the show.
MG is also preparing to launch its Toyota Camry-rivalling MG 7 medium sedan in Australia in the second half of 2025.
Other confirmed exhibitors for the 2025 Melbourne Motor Show – on Saturday April 5, 2025 and Sunday April 6, 2025 – include Kia, Isuzu Ute, Porsche, Tesla, GWM, and Subaru, along with a number of new or returning entrants to the Australian new-vehicle market.
