This is the moment the driver of a small car allegedly sideswiped a Ford Transit van along one of Victoria’s busiest roads.
Police have released footage of the moment a hatchback forced a van to spin out of control off the road in a alleged road rage incident, in an effort to track down the driver.
According to Victoria Police, a dark-coloured hatchback, which appears to be a current-generation Kia Cerato, started following a silver Ford Transit van along the Princes Freeway west of Melbourne.
The hatch then allegedly attempted to sideswipe the van several times before succeeding and causing it to spin out of control and crash into the guard rail between Forsyth Road and the Little River exit.
Following the smash, which took place on 17 October around 9:10 pm along the main route from Melbourne to Geelong near the town of Little River – where many of the scenes from the original Mad Max movie were filmed – the offending vehicle drove off.
Fortunately, the driver of the van was not injured in the incident, though investigators have now released dashcam footage in the hope witnesses may be able to help track down the hatch's driver.
Anyone who witnessed the incident, with further footage or information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
