The man got in a Twister heading in the wrong direction trying to get his late-night fast food fix.

A drink driver has been nabbed by police after being caught going the wrong way through a KFC drive-thru.

The 42-year-old man from Templestowe Lower was spotted by baffled staff at the fast food outlet in Doncaster in Melbourne's east on Thursday night.

Police were called to the scene in Doncaster Road at around 9pm when the man's Honda sedan became stuck on the kerb of the drive-thru.

He tested positive for alcohol, despite refusing to do a evidentiary breath test.

Police checks also found the fast food fan was driving without a valid licence.

A statement from Victoria Police said that 'unlike a certain 11 secret herbs and spices, drinking and driving are an original recipe for disaster'.

The man – whose car has been impounded for 30 days, costing him $913.70 or approximately 115 Zinger burgers – is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.
