In 2012, the Circuit of The Americas (COTA) became the sixth venue to host the United States Grand Prix in the history of the World Championship. Since its debut, COTA has held 11 Grand Prix races, with five different drivers claiming victory over the years.

Lewis Hamilton has dominated at COTA, securing nearly half of the wins held at the circuit. With five victories, he holds the record for the most wins at this track. Both Hamilton and Max Verstappen are the only drivers to achieve consecutive wins at COTA. Hamilton set the benchmark with four straight victories from 2014 to 2017, while Verstappen has won three in a row, with his latest triumph in 2023.

Former champions and Scuderia Ferrari drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Sebastian Vettel have also tasted victory at COTA but are no longer part of the current grid. Among the current drivers, Hamilton’s five wins are unmatched, followed by Max Verstappen with three victories and Valtteri Bottas, who secured his first win at the United States Grand Prix in 2019.

In terms of team performance, Mercedes leads with five wins at COTA, making them the most successful team at the Texas circuit. Red Bull follows closely with four victories, while McLaren and Ferrari have each won once at this challenging and dynamic track.

Out of the eleven races held at the Circuit of The Americas (COTA), seven have been decided by less than five seconds, showcasing the track’s propensity for close finishes. The narrowest victory margin at COTA was recorded during the inaugural event, where Lewis Hamilton won by just 0.675 seconds.

In contrast, only two races at Circuit of The Americas have seen the winner triumph by more than ten seconds. Lewis Hamilton won the 2017 United States Grand Prix with a margin of 10.143 seconds, while Max Verstappen set a new benchmark in 2023, winning by 10.730 seconds, the largest margin of victory at the circuit to date.

On average, the winning margin at Circuit of The Americas has been 4.664 seconds, highlighting a balance between closely contested races and more dominant performances.

The closest pole position margin at COTA occurred in 2019, when Mercedes F1 driver Valtteri Bottas clinched the top spot by a mere twelve thousandths of a second. Over the eleven races held at this circuit, the average margin for pole position at the United States GP has been 0.148 seconds.
