2025 F1 car launch: a revolution approaching for official presentation?

The launch of the cars is a unique moment for fans and others to admire the next single-seaters that will compete in the championship. It's almost a sacred ritual, with a specific time of day dedicated to presenting the open-wheel prototype. However, starting in 2025, there could be a major revolution in how the cars are unveiled.

The so-called "Launch Events" of the cars have become institutions in Formula 1. Every year, around February, all teams present their cars, more or less in their final form. This was the case with Mercedes in 2022, when the W13 changed its appearance between the tests in Barcelona and Bahrain. Besides Mercedes' presentation, the most anticipated and followed is, of course, Ferrari's. The Prancing Horse brand usually follows up the presentation event with a filming day on the track to allow the new Ferrari car to cover its first kilometers.

However, not all teams present a physical model of the car, opting instead for renders that don't reveal much detail. This was the case with Aston Martin, which only showed the updated livery, waiting until the last minute to reveal the shapes of the AMR24.

This tradition seems to be nearing its end, with Liberty Media looking to revise the presentation process. In fact, the owner of Formula 1 is reportedly interested in organizing a single reveal event for all 10 teams. According to Jeppe Olesen, this event could be held on February 18, 2025, to celebrate F1's 75th anniversary. The designated venue is expected to be the O2 Arena on the Greenwich Peninsula, southeast of London. The new procedure is expected to be announced in São Paulo, though it remains unclear whether teams will use only their liveries or the actual new cars.
