A dramatic turn of events unfolded during the initial practice session of the Miami Grand Prix when a red flag abruptly halted proceedings after nearly 10 minutes of running. The cause? Charles Leclerc’s spin.

The Monegasque driver lost control on the exit of Turn 16, but skillfully avoided colliding with the tyre barrier.

Despite Leclerc’s adept handling of the situation, navigating the tight confines of that section of the circuit proved challenging. Attempting a three-point turn, he struggled to reorient his SF24 due to the circuit’s narrowness. Unfortunately, his efforts were further hampered by an overheating clutch, forcing him to come to a stop while trying to execute the maneuver to face the correct direction. Consequently, Leclerc was unable to engage reverse gear.

This setback deals a significant blow to the 26-year-old driver, as he now heads into sprint qualifying at the Miami International Autodrome with just one hot lap under his belt.
