Bernie Ecclestone believes "Lewis Hamilton should have retired, Ferrari has other plans"

Bernie Ecclestone doesn't speak often, but when he does, he knows what he's saying. This time, his target is Lewis Hamilton and Scuderia Ferrari, or rather, primarily the English driver who, according to the British business magnate, motorsport executive and former racing driver, didn't make the best decision in joining the Maranello team.
The former F1 boss expressed his opinion on the seven-time Formula 1 world champion's choice, and his tone was anything but favorable. According to the English magnate, the current Mercedes driver will never be a priority at Ferrari because he will never have the status that Charles Leclerc holds.
Bernie Ecclestone: "Ferrari will always prefer Leclerc over everyone else"
“As far as I'm concerned, Hamilton will never win his eighth title with Ferrari. In my opinion, he should have retired and left it at that, instead of making a move that could turn out to be very wrong. We shouldn't forget how Ferrari is structured now and why it might not work out for him," he revealed in a recent interview with the *Daily Mail* newspaper.
The reason? Charles Leclerc. "Charles is fast and has deep roots in Ferrari. I don't believe they would ever give him up for anyone, not even for someone like Hamilton." The loyalty of the Monegasque driver to the team, in fact, will not create much room for favor toward the seven-time world champion (at least according to Bernie Ecclestone).
"He seems to be on the decline. I said *seems.* If that were really the case, and only he would know, maybe he should consider retirement and focus on his numerous projects outside the track, including fashion and everything else he's so active in," the former F1 boss added.
In short, according to one of F1's veterans, Lewis Hamilton's choice is a big gamble that may not pay off—and that, perhaps, could even lead him to regret it.
