Who Will Win the Championship?
Many analysts and observers have placed McLaren ahead of the competition as the new Formula 1 season kicks off on Sunday, March 16, in Melbourne. The British team has impressed with its race pace, but there are many uncertainties. Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull all have reasons to believe they can compete, especially in a season spanning 24 races with the addition of six Sprint events.
Oracle Bernie Ecclestone
Bernie Ecclestone spoke with Reuters ahead of the 2025 Formula 1 championship's start: "I'm glad the title race is so open; that's a good thing."
The 94-year-old Briton has a clear favorite for the title: "I think Max will win again. There's no reason he shouldn't. If he has a competitive car, there will be no debate—it's a certainty."
Ecclestone does not dismiss the competition: "Obviously, McLaren must be considered, and I'd love to see Ferrari win." Between Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton, the former F1 boss leans toward the Monegasque driver: "Charles has always been there. I find it hard to believe they would drop him for Lewis. I'm not saying a Lewis victory is impossible, but they certainly won't stop focusing on Charles Leclerc." Finally, the British entrepreneur stated that he would find it "very surprising" if Andrea Kimi Antonelli were to win a Grand Prix in the upcoming season.
