Boos at F1 75 event, but this time the FIA isn't involved: what's happening?

02/19/2025 02:50 PM
The highly anticipated F1 75 event was a major success for the world of Formula 1. The much-awaited unveiling of the 2025 cars turned into an unprecedented spectacle.
The two-hour ceremony featured all ten teams, with drivers and team principals introducing their new cars. Between presentations, there was also live musical entertainment. Around 15,000 fans attended the event, where each team had eight minutes to showcase the car they will race in the 2025 season.
Despite the positive reception on social media, events like this are always bound to spark some controversy. According to journalists present at last night's event, several sources suggest there was some "discontent within the FIA" regarding the mega-show held at London's O2 Arena.
However, the controversy doesn't involve the Federation itself but rather Red Bull and Max Verstappen. During the Austrian team's presentation, Christian Horner was booed by the paying audience as he took the stage.
The crowd's disapproval continued even as the team principal introduced the new Red Bull.
Christian Horner and the sexual misconduct scandal
The Formula 1 world has clearly not forgotten the sexual misconduct scandal involving Red Bull's team principal last year.
Around this time, Horner was thrust into the spotlight after the discovery of around 80 files containing sexually explicit conversations between him and a now-former team employee. Screenshots of the chats were allegedly sent to various journalists and figures within Formula 1, who then circulated their content.
For a long time, speculation swirled about Horner's possible dismissal, but in the end, it was the alleged victim who faced consequences, as she was suspended.
