The Austin Grand Prix saw a triumphant Ferrari with a one-two finish by Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, giving new life to their hopes of winning the championship. Currently, Ferrari is just 48 points behind the top of the constructors’ standings.
It is more difficult to hope for the drivers’ championship, with Leclerc trailing by 79 points Charles Leclerc from leader Max Verstappen, with only five races and a Sprint left in Interlagos. Of course, nothing is impossible, but now it seems more natural to focus on the fight for the constructors’ championship, which now more than ever seems within reach.
For this reason, Carlos Sainz was asked what he thinks about the battle for the final races of the championship and what to expect in the upcoming weekends. The Spaniard, without hesitation, shared his perspective and which tracks favor or disadvantage the SF-24.
“If I had to bet, I'd say Mexico and Las Vegas are good tracks for us, even based on what we saw last year. Again, I'm basing this a bit on last year. This year, everything feels a bit different, but we could do well at both,” he said at the end of the United States Grand Prix in Austin.
“The only track that seems more complicated for us is Qatar. Yes, that could be our bogey race. Then I don't even know what to expect from Abu Dhabi, how we'll get there and where we'll be. I really hope the pace we showed here in Austin can carry over to the next races. In that case, we can really fight for the championship,” added a hopeful Carlos Sainz.
