In the post-Miami Grand Prix interview, Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz was interviewed by Sky Sport UK, where he shared some reflections on the race. Carlos Sainz was asked about many topics, from the incident with Oscar Piastri in turn 17 during an overtaking attempt, to his compliments to former teammate Lando Norris for his first Formula 1 victory. Here are some of his most important statements.

Carlos Sainz comments on the Miami Grand Prix

Reaching the interview ring, the Spanish driver talked about his race, finishing in fourth place behind his Maranello teammate Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver described Sergio Perez’s maneuver as “crazy”: “I think today everyone was racing very hard. First, Checo ‘came in like a torpedo’ at the start and almost took all of us out, making me lose two positions. From that moment on, I was very fast. I saved my tires, and I was unlucky with the Safety Car for a lap, which could have given us the victory.”

The Spaniard then did not hide his frustration with the contact with Oscar Piastri: “I’m angry with Oscar because he clearly pushed me off the track, which cost us time with Charles and Max. I saw that the stewards today were not very aggressive with penalties, so I was aggressive.” – he continued.

Finally, the Ferrari driver congratulated his former teammate at McLaren for his first Formula 1 victory: “He deserved to win a race for a long time. He’s a driver who will win many races in F1 because he’s of an exceptional level. Today he was lucky, but luck comes to those who deserve it, and today he certainly deserved it.” – Carlos Sainz concluded at the end of the 2024 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
