Carlos Sainz pinpoints one worrying factor for Ferrari in Miami despite P3 in qualifying

Once again, for the sixth consecutive time in the 2024 Formula 1 championship, Max Verstappen set the fastest lap in qualifying. The Dutch world champion, despite a slightly less lively RB20 than usual, still managed to make his mark, sealing the deal in the first attempt of Q3.
However, it was good news for the two Ferrari cars, with Charles Leclerc confirming the second position achieved in the sprint shootout and this afternoon’s sprint race, while Carlos Sainz managed to snatch third place ahead of Sergio Perez, who will start alongside him on the second row in tomorrow’s Miami Grand Prix.
The Spanish driver, interviewed after the qualifying session in Miami, commented on his performance: “I knew that, with a clean qualifying, I could make it into the top three. We managed to get clean laps because it’s really tricky to warm up the new softs here, every lap is a bit of an adventure. You never know how the wind will affect you, and keeping all these things in mind, the lap was good.” – he pointed out.
“Are we worried about overheating? Yes, when you finish the lap you always think you could have gone a bit faster, but here it’s almost impossible to make a perfect lap because there’s always a point where you slide, overheat the tires, or the wind hits you differently. It’s a very difficult track to drive on, with a very tricky balance to find. I think starting from third position on the clean side could be positive for tomorrow.” – the Ferrari driver continued.
Finally, a few words for the Miami crowd, which has shown great support for Formula 1 since Thursday: “It’s really fantastic, as it is every year here in Miami. Every time we come, the fans give off really great energy and good vibes.” – Carlos Sainz concluded at the end of the qualifying session for the 2024 Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix.
