Carlos Sainz heading to Monza
Last year, the Monza Grand Prix was special for Carlos Sainz, who secured the fourth pole position of his Formula 1 career in front of the ecstatic Ferrari fans, following it up with a third-place finish in the race and fiercely defending against his teammate Charles Leclerc. However, this will be Carlos Sainz’s last Monza weekend as a Ferrari driver, as he will be leaving the Maranello team at the end of the year to join Williams. The “Smooth Operator” wants to bid farewell to the fans with a victory that Ferrari has been seeking at home since 2019.

Carlos Sainz’s comments
“Improving by two positions in the race compared to last year and especially seeing two Ferraris on the Monza podium would be an almost perfect story. There's no secret: McLaren and Red Bull are faster at the moment, but maybe we can fight for the win with the new updates and on a more favorable circuit like this one,” he said to Sky Sport F1. “We’ll see from Friday if everything works, and from there we’ll understand if we can fight for something important. The whole team wants to do well this weekend for all the people who come to support us.” – the Spanish driver pointed out.

“I didn't expect to overtake a Red Bull in the Netherlands: I thought I'd finish seventh, but we actually had a much better pace than we expected. The atmosphere here energizes us; we know we have to do well to repay this passion.” – Carlos Sainz continued.

The relationship with Charles Leclerc
Alongside Carlos Sainz was Charles Leclerc, with whom he will share his last Monza as teammates: “Charles is a very good person, I get along very well with him. Even today, we spent five hours together, having fun and joking around. We’ve known each other for four years and attend all the events together. Within a team, you always want competitive drivers who push to the maximum, but who also get along well together.” – the Ferrari driver concluded ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.
