With the Barcelona debacle behind them, Scuderia Ferrari is ready to move on from the recent past and focus on the upcoming weekend in Austria, with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz seeking redemption after their lackluster fifth and sixth place finishes a week ago at the 4.657-kilometre Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Peace Made Between Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz

The two Ferrari drivers reluctantly became the main characters in the Spanish race due to a collision on the second lap, which partially hindered both their podium chances. Charles Leclerc later lost his temper during interviews, accusing his teammate of not following the instructions given in the briefing.

The Spanish driver’s response was prompt, with Carlos Sainz rejecting the accusations, stating he simply took the opportunity to overtake his Maranello teammate and chase the two Mercedes cars, also having the advantage of a new set of soft tires.

Addressing the matter in a press conference ahead of the Spielberg weekend in Austria, the Monegasque driver wanted to definitively close the issue: “Will the contact in Spain affect our relationship? Absolutely not. We flew back on the same plane on Sunday; we just needed to see each other, and everything is fine.” – pointed out.

“We discussed it, as always, and I think the problem always seems huge from the outside. We’ve known each other so well and for so many years that we know there’s tension after the race, and we’re both caught up in the heat of the moment, disappointed with each other. Then we talk together, and everything is sorted out.” – Charles Leclerc added – “I have absolutely no concern about our relationship going forward. It was a race incident with a bit of tension.”

“It has happened before and may not be the last time, but each time we have managed the issue by talking to each other, and then everything is fine. I believe it will be the same this time as well. I am not worried.” – the Monegasque driver concluded ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.
