Charles Leclerc spoke about Ferrari’s recent difficulties in F1 and shared his perspective on the alleged “negative trend.” According to Charles Leclerc, Ferrari’s recent disappointments in Formula 1 are not due to a “negative trend.” The Monegasque driver, interviewed during the press conference of the Austrian Grand Prix, discussed the recent challenges faced by the SF-24. These, according to Charles Leclerc, were different between Canada and Spain and do not represent a worrying decline in performance.

Ferrari approaches the Austrian weekend with undaunted confidence. After celebrating the results achieved in the first ten races of the season, Maranello wants to leave behind the debacles of Montreal and Barcelona. The Spielberg circuit might suit the SF-24 better, but it’s important not to take predictions for granted: even a few hundredths of a second will make the difference.

"We understood very well what went wrong in Montreal, and it had to do with the tires," explained Charles Leclerc ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, which is set to take place this weekend at the 4.318-kilometre Red Bull Ring in Spielberg – "In Barcelona, I think we were simply slower than we expected. I don’t think we didn’t optimize our package well; we need to keep working to better understand the new parts. Between Canada and Spain, we had different problems, it's not a negative trend." – he pointed out.

SF-24, problems in long slow corners
In Barcelona, Ferrari’s difficulties in certain sections of the track became evident. In particular, the SF-24 struggles in slow and long corners, like Turn 10 in Barcelona. As analyzed after the Spanish Grand Prix, however, the problems might stem from the excessive downforce generated by the new upgrade. Charles Leclerc, in any case, is certain about the areas to develop.

"During qualifying, there are two corners where we lost everything in Barcelona," analyzed Charles Leclerc. "We are talking about Turn 5 and Turn 10. The latter has the characteristics I mentioned, slow and long corners. These are the corners we need to focus our efforts on. In the fast ones, like Turn 9 or Turn 13, during qualifying we did not see major weaknesses." – the Ferrari driver conclued.
