Charles Leclerc on his relationship with Fred Vasseur and Ferrari's efforts to turn the situation around

Charles Leclerc spoke about his relationship with Ferrari team principal Frederic Vasseur and the efforts the Maranello team is making to turn the current situation around.
A situation that is not easy for Scuderia Ferrari, as admitted by Charles Leclerc himself. However, the Monegasque driver has confidence in Frederic Vasseur’s work and that of the team.
After a positive start to the 2024 Formula 1 season, the SF-24’s performance went into crisis with the introduction of the aerodynamic update package at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. Since then, the Maranello team has been struggling with bouncing and has had to find a way to limit this problem. A first corrective measure came in Hungary and provided some positive responses.
Even at the 7.004-kilometre Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, despite Charles Leclerc’s disappointment after starting from pole position, Ferrari seemed more competitive, while George Russell’s disqualification handed a well-deserved podium to the Monegasque driver.
A difficult time for Ferrari
In Belgium, in an interview with RTBF, Charles Leclerc commented on Frederic Vasseur’s work and the current Ferrari situation: “With Fred, it’s fantastic,” revealed the Monegasque. “We don’t need many words to understand each other. We’ve known each other for a long time. We are very direct. We don’t waste time when we have something to say to each other. I think this is positive. We work very well together. We are in a difficult situation for the team and we are not happy about it. We are doing everything we can to try to get back to the top.” – Charles Leclerc pointed out.
The Monegasque also spoke about the relationship between teammates and the tensions that arise, recalling what happened at McLaren in Budapest: “It’s not easy to find a balance. We have all worked hard to get to where we are. We are living a dream and we all want to show what we can do. It’s normal that there are sometimes frictions. There will always be races where things get more heated between teammates. I think McLaren managed the situation well in Hungary. I flew here [to Spa ed.] with Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri and everything went well. In the past, the same thing happened between me and Carlos. We didn’t necessarily agree on the track and we discussed it afterwards. We don’t always manage adrenaline in the best way. Sometimes, when you hear radio communications, you imagine the situation is hotter than it actually is.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
