Charles Leclerc highlighted that one of Ferrari's main improvements during the 2024 Formula 1 season was learning not to be overwhelmed by emotions. The Maranello team closed the year with five wins, securing second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
A Positive Outcome Despite Difficulties
Although the Constructors’ Championship slipped away, 2024 was a year of progress for Ferrari. The season was not without obstacles: halfway through the year, the introduction of an ineffective update compromised the performance of the SF-24, causing a loss of points in crucial races. Only after careful analysis was the team able to resolve the issue, regaining competitiveness in the final phase of the championship.
This setback may have been decisive in the failure to win the title, but Charles Leclerc sees the glass as half full: "Looking back, I'm happy with the season," said the Monegasque driver to the New York Times. "There were a few missed opportunities. The performance drop after Monaco, due to an update that didn't work as expected, was tough, but we learned valuable lessons from it. I wouldn't change anything because those experiences made us a stronger team. Overall, it was a positive season, even though we lacked that little bit extra, especially at the beginning, to compete at the highest level." – he pointed out.
Ferrari Among the Favorites for 2025
With the results achieved in 2024, Ferrari is preparing to be one of the main contenders for the title next year. When asked what Ferrari is doing to prepare for the upcoming season, Charles Leclerc responded cautiously: "It's hard to say because in Formula 1, everything is relative. We can only focus on our work. I'm convinced that we are on the right path. The team is much more united and solid. On the technical side, we don't know if our rivals, like Red Bull or McLaren, have found extraordinary solutions for next year. Our priority is to stay focused and give our best." – the Monegasque driver added.
A Change in Mindset Under Fred Vasseur’s Leadership
Ferrari has shown a remarkable ability to bounce back from difficulties, a shift attributed to the work of team principal Frederic Vasseur. In the past, the team had often faltered under pressure during critical moments, but this year they demonstrated greater resilience.
Charles Leclerc explained that the team has learned to maintain emotional balance, an aspect that had been a weakness in the past: "The team's mentality has improved a lot," the driver said. "Ferrari is special for the passion that drives every team member. This dedication is a strength, but it can turn into an emotional burden when things go wrong. However, this year, we've learned to better manage these dynamics. The passion is still there, but we've become more rational and less vulnerable to emotions. This makes us a much stronger team." – he concluded.
