Charles Leclerc returns on track for karting event organized in memory of his friend Jules Bianchi

Charles Leclerc doesn't like staying away from engines and hit the track for the karting event organized in memory of his friend Jules Bianchi.

The Ferrari driver, accompanied by a number of sports and entertainment figures, is taking part in a karting event at Paul Ricard. A special occasion organized by Sodi Kart and the Bianchi foundation on the circuit in southern France. Strong from the bond he shared with Jules Bianchi, Leclerc will be present this weekend at the karting event where he won't make any concessions.

For the second year in a row, the “Jules Bianchi” Karting Marathon will take place on the Castellet circuit. The start of this team relay, with teams of 5 to 20 drivers, will be given on Friday, September 6, at 19:41:10, with the finish on Sunday, 8 at 14:00.

“It's exceptional, this year we have 32 teams at the start, making 400 drivers, including several VIPs who told us it was an honor for them to be there for Jules. This shows how much he left a mark on people,” continues Philippe Bianchi, who co-organizes the event together with driver Franck Lagorce.

In an interview with the event’s broadcaster, the Ferrari driver shared his emotions in seeing how many friends were on the track to remember Jules. Fresh off his F1 race victory in Monza, Leclerc also flew to Le Castellet to participate in the race, confirming that he won't be making concessions to anyone despite the meaning of the event.

“I'll be in two teams, one with professional drivers, where we'll be disqualified in the end, and another with my friends, who are a bit less talented behind the wheel of a kart, and I'll try to help them, at least to get into the top 5, we'll give it our all.”

Charles Leclerc confirms he is super competitive even off the F1 tracks and aims to win this event as well. When asked about leaving the door open to be overtaken, Charles Leclerc was very clear. “No, never, I'm a competitor and it's very difficult for me to pretend to lose, even in a race like this, we'll give it our all to get a good result, I won't make any concessions.”
