Charles Leclerc once again demonstrated how comfortable he is on street circuits by putting in an excellent performance on Friday at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, the venue for the Singapore Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver set the fastest time in the first free practice session, while in the second, he was beaten only by Lando Norris, and by just 58 thousandths of a second.

Charles Leclerc set his best lap in the night session using a set of Soft tires that had already completed four laps, meaning at least one previous attempt at a fast lap. Therefore, his time takes on even more value ahead of tomorrow.

However, the Ferrari driver from Monaco is only satisfied to a certain extent. In his opinion, there is still room to improve things, starting with the setup. Additionally, the Maranello team will have to pay attention to the weather, which is expected to be variable until Sunday.

“Today went well, but there is still work to be done: The car is not yet at the point where I want it to be. We are still trying to improve it, and the weather is expected to be quite uncertain until the end, so we will need to adapt quickly to various situations.” – the Monegasque driver pointed out.

“But it was definitely a good Friday. It wasn’t the best or the worst, so we still have room for improvement. We need to keep pushing.” – he added.

“We need to improve the balance of the car, put everything together, and this should result in a good pace ahead of tomorrow.”

Charles Leclerc does not hide his ambitions. In his opinion, Ferrari is among the teams fighting to win at Marina Bay, but the gaps to others (half a second ahead of his first pursuer, teammate Carlos Sainz) will be smaller tomorrow.

“I believe we are in the mix to win, but I think the situation will be very different tomorrow. I would be very surprised if we had the same advantage over everyone else, especially between me and third place. I truly believe the gaps will be much, much closer tomorrow compared to today.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded at the end of Friday practice in Singapore.
