Two audacious robberies, a Formula 1 champion, and a manager with English origins: the crime news in Viareggio took a dramatic turn with the arrest of Francesco Pinto, Annamaria Nocerino, and Luciano Allinoro. The operation, which took place on April 18 last year, exposed crimes that shocked local and international public opinion.

The robbery of Charles Leclerc
On April 18, 2022, the famous Ferrari driver, Charles Leclerc, became the victim of a robbery involving a highly valuable watch. Francesco Pinto, Annamaria Nocerino, and Luciano Allinoro were arrested for allegedly attacking the Monegasque driver and stealing his precious Richard Mille watch, valued at approximately 2.5 million euros. The suspects were described as “strongly implicated,” as, in addition to the theft from the racing star, they were involved in another attempted robbery of a Rolex Daytona worth 40,000 euros.

Analysis of public and private surveillance footage revealed crucial details to reconstruct the crime. The investigation determined that the two main perpetrators, Stefanoni and Pinto, used a scooter registered to a front man for their getaway, while Allinoro and Nocerino, in an SUV rented in Naples, acted as accomplices. The plan appeared well-coordinated: while Pinto and Stefanoni attacked Charles Leclerc, Allinoro and Nocerino monitored and hindered any potential reactions from the victim.

The investigation
The long and complex investigation involved highly precise technical work. Investigators conducted an extensive analysis of surveillance footage and questioned several witnesses, which led to the accurate identification of the culprits. The investigation not only highlighted the facts surrounding the robbery of Leclerc but also linked the three suspects to another criminal episode that took place on the same night.

Specifically, Allinoro and Nocerino were accused of actively following the victim, forming a real support network for the duo who carried out the robbery. This organization facilitated the robbers’ escape, allowing them to quickly flee the crime scene and head towards Naples. The systematic and coordinated approach of the suspects suggests premeditation and a high level of organizational skill, making the investigation even more complex.

Other robberies the same night
On the same night as the Charles Leclerc robbery, Pinto and his accomplices attempted to assault a young couple near Forte dei Marmi. The dynamics of this attack were similar: Pinto violently tried to snatch a 40,000 euro watch from a young man's wrist. Fortunately, in this case, the robbery was foiled by the fortuitous intervention of some passersby.

Additionally, the prosecution highlighted another crime that took place just fifteen minutes before 1 AM on August 2, during which Pinto and Allinoro attempted to rob a manager of English origin. This episode involved threats and the use of a gun, completing a picture of aggression and intimidation that characterized the actions of the three suspects.

Sentencing and appeal
Following the investigation, the Gup of Lucca handed down significant sentences. Pinto and Allinoro were sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison, while Nocerino received a sentence of 6 years and 5 months. However, the Court of Appeal in Florence later reviewed these sentences, reducing Pinto’s sentence to 7 years and 4 months, while Nocerino’s was reduced to 4 years and 8 months. Allinoro’s sentence remained unchanged.

The sentences confirmed joint responsibility among the various suspects, emphasizing that the robberies and acts of violence committed under different circumstances were not isolated incidents, but part of a broader scheme of organized crime. Investigations and legal challenges continue in a context where the line between innocence and guilt is being contested in the appeals process.
